  • Drive enterprise initiatives involving a balanced mix of advanced analytics deployed via traditional Business Intelligence (BI) and dashboarding/reporting means.
  • Provide guidance to external consultants in the development/deployment of BI/analytics initiatives.
  • Serve as an expert in Business Intelligence deployment at an enterprise level with a working knowledge and expertise on advanced analytics techniques, knowledge and experience crafting Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and insights for health payors, and experience demonstrating to business the value of analytics; and as a mentor for junior analysts, a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on analytics and reporting, and a strong advocate for analytics in the health payor space.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Serve in a leadership role within the enterprise Data Warehouse (DWH) environment.  
  • Manage and mentor internal staff as well as external consultants and Cognizant Technology Solutions (CTS) business partners.  
  • Review all business requests, suggest best practices on fulfilling those requests, recommend solutions and approaches for the development team, and set development guidelines and standards for the larger team.
  • Provide guiding principles, help set strategy for, and monitor development of key Analytic Data Marts as well as user-friendly output mechanisms (Tableau, SAS, Cognos, etc.). 
  • Help select and configure shared data science spaces and collaboration environments (e.g., KNIME, SAS)  
  • Collaborate with and support the Director of Advanced Analytics in supporting enterprise analytics projects; propose and demonstrate new opportunities and insight through analytics; and serve as an analytics leader and SME internally within the Data & Analytics department as well as externally.  
  • Partner with senior leaders on analytics and BI projects.  Help guide business on analytical and BI reporting opportunities.
  • Create professional development plans for junior staff and nurture talent.  
  • Mentor and provide guidance, training, and technical support to internal staff and external consultants where needed.

Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, IT, Computer Science or a related field required; Master’s preferred
  • Certification / portfolio in Data Science, Business Intelligence preferred
  • TDWI, Oracle, BI Tool, and other accredited certification preferred
  • 10+ years’ relevant, professional work experience required
  • 6+ years of Business Intelligence experience in the health insurance industry, and/or managed-care environment required
  • Demonstrated experience running analytics projects required
  • Working understanding of Data Science techniques, tools, and programming libraries required
  • Knowledge/experience in deployment practices for large scale analytical projects within BI applications required
  • Broad familiarity with core data management responsibilities: Relational and Dimensional Modeling techniques, general BI tool administration experience and BI presentation layer design, data/requirements gathering, core RDBMS system knowledge and experience, SQL/data profiling, and/or Big Data technologies required
  • Experience managing a small team of technical and business professionals in a DWH setting required
  • Experience managing large amounts of data and proficiency using data access tools required
  • TDWI, Oracle, BI Tool, and other accredited certification programs within the areas of data warehousing, BI development, and application programming disciplines preferred
  • Data Science, Predictive Analytics, Machine-learning, AI certification knowledge/experience preferred
