Perform high level actuarial analyses, including, but not limited to: medical expense analyses and projections, reserve development, financial audit support, financial forecasts, regulatory filings, actuarial modeling/analysis of vendor contracts, and ad hoc actuarial analyses/advice as needed.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Apply sound actuarial principles to all financial/pricing analysis and to all aspects of decision-making processes.
  • Demonstrate independent decision-making capability.
  • Analyze historical medical expenses, and develop reserve estimates in support of the monthly financial close cycle.
  • Manage various medical accruals and projections; evaluate performance of non-fee-for-service medical costs
  • Assist in the financial plan and forecast cycle; test emerging results against forecasted expectations.
  • Support various internal and external financial audits
  • Support values for MLR, CMS EDGE, and other Statutory report submissions.
  • Perform other related projects as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3-5 years of previous experience in actuarial analysis required, preferably in a Managed Healthcare environment
  • Excellent quantitative, problem solving, and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Strong project management skills
  • Proficient with personal computers. Strong spreadsheet skills required; experience with Microsoft Access or similar query and report development software preferred
